1. ICONOSTASIS

Working in oils and echoing the style of the Old Masters, Mitch Griffiths produces modern paintings which touch on themes such as nationhood, iconography, ‘cult beauty’ and celebrity culture.

A virtuoso painter, Griffiths uses a hyper-realist technique, working the canvas through the traditional chiaroscuro and utilising a single light source to both shape and highlight his figures on the canvas.  ‘Many people say my paintings look photo-realist’, he says, ‘but it’s not what I’m trying to achieve. I’m trying to make the viewer enter MY reality’

The show catalogue printed on Fedrigoni Stucco Old Mill was as Griffiths said ‘the perfect paper for reproducing what I had created on canvas’. Fedrigoni Stucco Old Mill is a traditional felt marked paper that retains all the characteristics of a fine uncoated stock with a special ‘Stucco’ surface which brings sharp definition to colour imagery, perfect for art reproductions.

  2. ARCODESIGN

Building innovation on a strong tradition

The new Arcodesign (formerly known as Quadrex) has been created with a high mechanical performance that is both attractive and robust: a paper to put to the test in all sorts of different applications, from publishing to packaging and even price tags.

Arcodesigns’ origins can be traced back to the early fifties when the punched data cards used to provide input to computers had to be extremely robust, durable and resistant. Fedrigoni has taken a fresh look at that formula, using ECF cellulose with FSC certification to achieve the same tenacity as in those days, but now combining it with a natural, uncoated and ultra-smooth surface that guarantees an excellent print performance.

This is an interesting new solution for covers, cartons, counter displays, invitations and all other printed matter that calls for sequences of converting processes.

Arcodesign papers and cards also stand out for their whiteness: the tone is so natural, with the advantage that it makes extremely limited use of optical bleaches.

    Arcodesign: available weights 120g/m, 140g/m, 200g/m, 285g/m, 350g/m, 400g/m, 450g/m, 490g/m, 580g/m

We owe a massive thank you to @Fedrigoniuk for being our main paper sponsor. They have supplied all paper used for our promotional material from the Woodstock Betulla range and all the stock for the event day, which you will be using to create some fantastic letterpress posters on!

    More about Fedrigoni:

It is nearly as old as communications itself. Paper tells stories - the way it looks, the way it feels to touch, and even the way it smells.

Today, paper is as versatile and technologically advanced as any silicon chip. Fedrigoni have been refining the art of making fine quality specialty papers for more that 120 years. Striking, tactile surfaces, vivid colours, papers that can be bent, cut and folded into almost any form you can imagine.

In an age, when almost all of our communication takes place in a sterile online environment, the tactile, sensory qualities of paper have become more powerful, and even more invaluable.

FEDRIGONI papers can demand your attention, or retire gracefully into the background. In your hands, paper is no ordinary communication medium - it is an art in its own right.
